I am a multidisciplinary artist from Toronto, Ontario.
I studied photography at Ryerson University and design at Humber & Sheridan.
I've been involved in the arts all of my adult life. I've worked professionally as a photographer, actor, comedic improviser, singer, voice-over artist and writer.
If I'm not creating I am DYING.
I also might be a bit of a drama queen.
I've enjoyed painting since I was a young adult it was always a source of pleasure but I didn't make time for it until a few years ago a dear friend of mine, Irene Duma decided to move away to the end of the world to devote her life to painting. She put her nose to the grindstone and hard work combined with natural talent and voila! Success. (Her work is here--and spoiler alert--it is superb!)
So inspiring!!!!!!!
Never one to resist a coat tail, I hopped on.
I dabbled with a few small watercolours at first. Landscapes. Flowers. Fruits. They were...ok.
Some would say "Meh."
Others might say "Blech."
But I persevered,
They got better. I got better. I got more confident. I moved on to acrylic paint and the colours got bolder and the edges less distinct, I created worlds where red sits with purple behind the school gym and whilst acid green smokes and revs up the marching band. Such a happy place! Such a happy germ-free place!
Now I am consumed. It is my food, my water, my life!
(Another little dramatic presentation for your dining and dancing pleasure.)
I am still experimenting, evolving, I don't where this will take me but I truly enjoy being the monkey driving the bus.
I hope you enjoy what you see. If you wish to purchase any of my work contact me at showes44@gmail.com aside from art I'm a big fan of the spendoolis!.
The Artist's Statement was created by an Automatic Statement Generator. All I could think of was "SGHowes likes to watch big bold colours bash into one another." but I needed more words. This generator whipped up a statement and it's a doozy. I think if you read it out loud with a French accent it is better.
